The violence of our times.

Thomas Merton once declared that ... allowing ourselves to be carried away by conflicting concerns, surrendering to too many demands, committing to too many projects, wanting to help everyone in everything ... is to succumb to violence.

That was 1968. Imagine if he could see us today.

We are in a constant battle to be more, do more, know more and keep up. The more we do, the more that's expected of us.

Stop the violence and take a break. Make a cup of tea. Read a book. Go for a walk. Stand barefoot in the grass. Take a bath. Journal. Sing. Dance. Stretch.

Disconnect with the outside world so you can reconnect with yourself.

And remember, breathe.
